Speech of Michael Martens at Petrotech in New Delhi attracts great interest
19 October 2012
Presentation on 'Best Practice Processes in the Downstream Sector'
The Indian downstream industry is expanding. In order to keep pace with this dynamic growth, companies are currently looking for the best solutions and processes worldwide. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) therefore decided to invite Implico to give a talk at Petrotech 2012, India’s leading trade fair for the oil and gas industry.
Michael Martens, managing partner of the Implico Group gave a presentation at this year’s Petrotech in New Delhi on the topic of "Oil & Gas Industry Best Practice Business Processes in the Downstream Distribution Area". In the "Special Track on Fuel Retailing 2012" he presented a paper on the requirements and best practices for reducing costs in downstream business channels. In his presentation, he offered insights into how to design efficient processes for supplying both individual retail customers and even entire service station networks. By automating their processes, oil and gas companies and biofuel suppliers can significantly reduce their transportation costs while at the same time improving replenishment planning quality. Michael Martens stressed in particular the outstanding potential of combining the traditional strength of German companies – innovation – with the dynamic nature of the Indian economy.
The positive response from the audience showed that he had clearly hit a chord. The media also demonstrated considerable interest. At the closing press conference, Michael Martens answered questions from many journalists working for a variety of Indian business and daily newspapers. Immediately after the presentation, representatives of AGS, Implico's local Indian partner, were available to answer further questions from visitors.
Petrotech is the largest oil and gas event in India. The trade fair is held every two years – this year from 14 to 17 October – and organized by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. It provides a platform where representatives from politics, business and science can meet to exchange information about current sector trends.
