Implico Completes Release Upgrade Project
Implico today announced that Munich Municipal Waste Management Service (Abwallwirtschaftsbetrieb München – AWM) has been using the latest SAP release ERP 6.02 since early November. AWM has now upgraded from its outdated SAP system successfully and according to plan. The international Implico Group implemented key components of this complex release upgrade project.
During the tender process in early 2010, Implico impressed selectors with its work in core SAP and SAP development, SAP Waste and Recycling and SAP standard modules, and won the respective tendered work packages. In addition to the price, Implico's proven SAP expertise for the disposal industry also was critical for this decision.
Planned to run for a period of six months, the project commenced in May 2010 with a brief design phase. This was followed by a four-month implementation and modification phase, which also covered changes to 280 AWM-specific code modules. Extensive integration tests followed in October, involving almost 30 AWM employees, before the new SAP system went live successfully and as planned at the beginning of November.
Since then, the approximately 250 SAP users at AWM have been enjoying the user-friendly input screens in the new SAP release, the simplified authorization management and the option of creating any business partners via the CIC's front-office process. SAP ERP 6.02 also offers the option of converting materials to OpenOffice formats. An additional benefit is the new release's support for SEPA – the Single Euro Payments Area, in which all payments are treated as if they were domestic payments.
The release upgrade was the second project for which AWM relied on Implico's long-standing industry expertise. Previously, Munich's AWM had entrusted the consulting and software company with key aspects of the rollout of the SAP Waste and Recycling industry solution for the container services, bulk waste collection and self-delivery processes.
