SAP OGSD 6.1 Acceptance Test Completed Successfully
Implico today announced that a new version of SAP OGSD (SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution), its end-to-end industry solution for companies in downstream markets, is scheduled for release later this year. Following a highly successful Acceptance Test in early September, SAP AG will now carry out the validation process. From December 2009, Release 6.1 will enter the Ramp-Up phase – the process for bringing SAP solutions to market.
SAP OGSD Release 6.1 offers its users some clear performance benefits: the "Consumption Forecast" feature has been overhauled completely for the new release, making it now significantly easier to use. The format of the supplied interfaces is now considerably more flexible and the note functionality has been simplified. The new release also supports Map&Guide's PTV XServer.
September's Acceptance Test was a milestone in the progress of the release towards a commercial launch. During the week-long test, held in Implico's headquarters in Hamburg, twelve participants from Germany and abroad put the new features through their paces. Testers included SAP staff members plus employees from OGSD´s customers Total Deutschland, OMV, ZG Raiffeisen and AmeriGas. The next quality check will be provided by SAP's validation phase.
In December, SAP OGSD 6.1 will be released to a small group of customers. From October, any customers wishing to take part in this Ramp-Up process can apply over the Internet. Implico will notify customers of the relevant website in due course. Ramp-Up participants will be the first in the industry to enjoy the benefits of the new features – thus gaining a clear competitive advantage. The product will then be on general release six months later.
During the Acceptance Test week, Implico also used a break-out session to show participants some new features developed for the SAP OGSD application: web-based scheduling and data collation, plus onboard computer/iPhone integration. These features are add-ons to SAP OGSD 6.1 and can be obtained directly from Implico.
