Tönsmeier optimizes their refuse collecting business and relies on Telematics
03/13/2008 Tönsmeier optimizes their refuse collecting business and relies on Telematics

The company, Tönsmeier, enhanced their integrated ERP-system with an additional component: In December the first refuse collecting vehicle, equipped with a completely new on-board computer technology that is integrated online in the process cycle, thanks to telematics, was sent on its way. This innovative solution was implemented by the consulting- and implementations partner, Implico.

On the on-board computer of the manufacturer Moba, runs software, that is connected online through GPRS to the central SAP system. The daily route planning, planned for this vehicle by the schedulers in SAP, is transferred per GPRS to the board computer and can easily be accessed by the driver. On the monitor, all the data of each position that is relevant for the individual orders, appears.

The driver can carry out the confirmation directly on the monitor. At the same time numerous additional information like the weighing moment, the weight determined by the vehicle weighing machine, reasons for rejection or, for example, additional services can be added. The information is send back online to the SAP system and is directly at the schedulers' disposal.

In addition all the data from the vehicle technique (weighing moment, engine on/out, etc.) and from the driven route (e.g. GPS coordinates) are logged and can, when needed, be used in the SAP system for further analysis and optimization.
In further development modules features like time synchronization, software update via GPRS, integrating navigation software as well as the integration of Ident systems for the automatic identification of containers and their order time are realized. The complete system will then be rolled out in the area of swap container development.
